The Justice and Equality Movements welcomes the appointment of Anita Kakeu Gbeho as Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations-African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur ( UNIMD). JEM hopes that the appointment of Anita will contribute positively to enable the UNIMD to carry out its mandate by bringing her wealthy experience and kn
owledge of Sudan to continue support and protect the people in the troubled region of Darfur.
JEM expresses its readiness to cooperate and work closely with the UNAMID’s leadership to facilitate the implementation of the mission’s task and contribute in alleviating the suffering of the people of Darfur especially the internally displaced people and the refugees who bear the brunt.
JEM acknowledges that there is an urgent need to revitalize the peace process as the settlement of the conflict through political means is the only viable solution for a just and durable peace in Darfur, in this regard, JEM is ready to engage on the basis that genuinely address the problems and bring lasting peace in the region through peaceful means.
We reiterate our commitment to actively work and extend our hands to the international efforts that searching for peace in Darfur but in the same we must say that there is an urgent need to increase the efforts to further the search for peace in the region.
