Human Rights Group Protests Dafur Death Sentences

Amnesty International is protesting the death sentences handed down to 82 Darfuri men by a Sudanese special court. The men were allegedly involved in a May 2008 attack on the capital, Khartoum, by an armed opposition group based in Darfur, the Justice and Equality Movement.

11 Darfur Rebels Get Death Penalty for Khartoum Attack

A Sudanese court has sentenced another 11 Darfur rebels to death for a deadly attack on the capital last year.

Judge Hafez Ahmed found the men guilty of involvement of the attack in verdicts issued Sunday. Eight other men were acquitted.

‘Iranian arms ship destroyed near Sudan’

An Iranian vessel loaded with weapons to transfer to Hamas via Sudan was recently sunk in the Red Sea by an unidentified missile ship believed to be Israeli, according to Arab media.

Sudan orders 11 Darfur rebels hanged

A Sudanese court on Wednesday sentenced 11 members of the Darfur rebel Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) to death and acquitted five others for an unprecedented 2008 attack on Khartoum.
