JEM Suspends Participation in the Doha Peace Process
A Statement:

In a joint meeting of the Executive, Legislative and Military councils of JEM  and after thorough discussion of the rapidly deteriorating conditions of the IDPs and other Darfur citizens following the callous expulsion of International NGOS from the region, JEM has decided to suspend its participation in the Doha Peace Process.  JEM holds the government fully responsible for this unfortunate turn of events.  JEM will not be in a position to review this decision without the following actions:
1.    Return of all evicted International NGOs and resumption of their operations and in accordance with Article (3), Paragraph (A) and (B) of the Doha Good Will Agreement, signed February 17th 09. This Article of the Agreement guarantees unhampered delivery of aid by International NGOs.
2.    Complete reversal of decision of Khartoum government “to expel all International NGOs by next year and replace them with national NGOs”.  This irresponsible decision of Sudanization of NGOs threatens survival of poor people across the Sudan and not only in Darfur.  International NGOs are also crucial for success of repatriation of refugees and IDPs, rehabilitation and development that follow any peace agreement in Darfur and the rest of the country.
3.    Full implementation of joint release of prisoners as stipulated in Article 3, Paragraph (C) of the Doha Agreement.

In issuing this statement, JEM commends the Qatari mediation and thanks them for their genuine and professional work throughout the engagement.
